Practical exercise
Build the company's tax compliance file
Using the tax compliance toolkit workbook, build a tax compliance file for Haro Furniture and Interiors PLC, or for your own business or employer: a registration checklist, one month's payroll tax and pension, one month's VAT computation, a Category B estimate for a small supplier, and the compliance calendar for the fiscal year, with a short note to the finance manager on the risks you found.
- 1Download tax-compliance-toolkit.xlsx and complete the Registration checklist sheet: TIN, commercial and trade-name registration, business license and renewal window, category, VAT registration status under Directive No. 1104/2025, and employer pension registration
- 2On the Payroll sheet, enter each employee's basic salary and overtime; check the computed PAYE, 7% and 11% pension and net pay for two employees band by band
- 3On the VAT sheet, enter one month's sales and purchases, mark each purchase as creditable, non-creditable or held for a corrected invoice, and confirm the VAT payable and due date
- 4On the Category B sheet, estimate the gross sales tax for one small supplier, showing the band, the prudent budget and the monthly set-aside
- 5On the Calendar sheet, list every obligation for fiscal year 2026/27 with its legal deadline, an internal deadline, the owner and the expected cash
- 6Write a one-page note to the finance manager naming three compliance risks you found and the fix for each
