Practical exercise
My workplace commitments plan
Using the culture self-assessment workbook, rate yourself honestly against 30 workplace behaviors across the six modules, identify your two or three weakest areas, and turn them into three SMART commitments for the next 90 days. Agree the plan with your supervisor and review it at day 30, 60 and 90, recording evidence and results in the workbook.
- 1Download culture-self-assessment.xlsx and rate each of the 30 statements from 1 (rarely) to 5 (always), with one example of evidence for any rating of 4 or 5
- 2Ask your supervisor or a trusted colleague to rate the same statements for you, and note where your ratings differ by 2 or more
- 3Read the Summary sheet: your area averages, your overall score and your two lowest areas
- 4Write three SMART commitments on the 90-day plan sheet, each with an action, a measure, a target and a start date, at least two of them for your lowest areas
- 5Agree the plan with your supervisor, and record your 30, 60 and 90 day reviews with the measures achieved and any support needed
- 6At day 90, re-rate yourself and write a short reflection on what changed and your next commitments
What you hand in
- Completed self-assessment with your ratings, your supervisor's or colleague's ratings and the area summary
- A 90-day plan with three SMART commitments, signed off by your supervisor
